How do I choose which competition to enter?
Start with the brief and the jury: a competition judged by people whose work you respect, in your own discipline, is worth more than a bigger prize in the wrong field. Then compare what winners actually receive (cash, an exhibition, publication) with the entry fee, and check how many people are selected.
Are free competitions worth entering?
Yes. Several of the best-known competitions are free to enter, and a free entry costs only your time. Use the Entry fee filter to see only free competitions, and check each listing for the rights you give the organiser.
What should I check before paying an entry fee?
Who runs the competition and since when, who is on the jury, what winners and shortlisted entrants receive, and the terms on image rights and usage. A clear fee per entry, named jurors and published past winners are good signs.
Can I enter from any country?
Most competitions listed here are open internationally. When entry is limited to certain countries, ages or students, the listing says so under Eligibility and Open to.
How often is this list updated?
New competitions are added every week, and every listing shows the date its details were last checked against the official site. Closed competitions move to the bottom of the page.
