Privacy Policy
Last updated: 1 October 2026
This privacy policy explains what personal data is processed when you visit good stuff weekly (goodstuffweekly.com), why it is processed and what rights you have. It is written with the Turkish Personal Data Protection Law No. 6698 (KVKK) in mind and, for visitors in the European Union and the United Kingdom, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). It also covers visitors in the United States.
Who we are
good stuff weekly is a curated directory of competitions, awards, open calls, residencies, grants, events, courses and other resources for designers, illustrators, photographers, artists and craftspeople. good stuff weekly is responsible for the personal data processed through this website (the data controller). The site is operated from Turkey.
The short version
- You can use the whole website without an account and without telling us who you are.
- We do not have contact forms, newsletter sign-ups or comments, and we do not sell or share personal data for advertising.
- We use Google Analytics to see how the site is used, but only if you accept it in the cookie banner. You can change your choice at any time with the “Cookie settings” link at the bottom of every page.
- Our fonts and images are served from our own website, so your browser does not contact Google or any other third party to show them.
- Our hosting provider receives technical data, such as your IP address, when your browser loads the site.
What we process and why
Server and security logs
When you visit the website, your browser automatically sends technical information to our hosting provider, Hostinger: your IP address, the date and time of the request, the page requested, the referring page, and your browser and operating system. This is needed to deliver the website, keep it secure and fix errors. The logs are kept by the hosting provider for a limited period and then deleted.
Website analytics (Google Analytics)
If you click “Accept” in the cookie banner, we use Google Analytics 4, provided by Google, to understand how visitors use the website: which pages are viewed, how people arrive at the site, and roughly where they come from (country or city level) and on which kind of device. Google Analytics uses cookies (for example _ga and _ga_<ID>) and processes your IP address to do this; Google Analytics 4 does not store IP addresses. We use this information only in aggregated form to improve the directory. We do not use it to identify you, and Google advertising features (such as Google signals and ad personalisation) are switched off. If you click “Decline” or ignore the banner, Google Analytics is not loaded at all and no analytics cookies are set.
You can withdraw your consent at any time with the “Cookie settings” link at the bottom of every page; the analytics cookies are then deleted. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or install Google’s opt-out browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. The website works fully without them.
Search and filters
When you search the directory or use the filters, your search words and choices are added to the page address (for example ?q=poster). Page addresses are recorded in the server logs and, if you accepted analytics, in Google Analytics like any other page view. We do not store searches in any other way. Please do not type personal information into the search box.
Editor accounts
Only the people who manage good stuff weekly have accounts, used to log in to the site’s administration area. For them we store a name, an email address and a securely hashed password. Visitors never need an account.
Cookies
The website sets one necessary cookie for visitors, gsw_consent, which remembers your choice in the cookie banner for 12 months. Google Analytics cookies (_ga and _ga_<ID>) are set only after you accept them, as described above. A login cookie (payload-token) is set only for editors who log in to the administration area.
Legal basis
We process server log and consent-cookie data because it is necessary for our legitimate interests in running a secure, working and useful website (KVKK Article 5(2)(f); GDPR Article 6(1)(f)). We use Google Analytics only on the basis of your consent given in the cookie banner (KVKK Article 5(1); GDPR Article 6(1)(a)), which you can withdraw at any time.
Who receives the data
We share data only with the service providers we need to run the website:
- Hostinger: website hosting and server logs.
- Google: Google Analytics, only after your consent. More information: policies.google.com/privacy.
- Neon: database hosting for the directory’s content and the editors’ accounts. No visitor data is stored there.
- Cloudflare: storage for images shown on the site (Cloudflare R2). Images are delivered through our own website, so your browser does not connect to Cloudflare.
These providers may store and process data outside Turkey, including in the European Union and the United States. By using the website you should be aware that such transfers take place.
Links to other websites
Directory listings link to the websites of competition organisers, schools, event organisers and other third parties. When you follow these links or enter a competition, the other website’s own privacy policy applies. We are not responsible for how they handle your data.
How long we keep data
Server logs are kept by our hosting provider for a limited period. Google Analytics data is kept for the retention period set in our Google Analytics account: event data for 2 months and user data for at most 14 months. Aggregated statistics that no longer identify anyone may be kept longer.
Your rights
Under Article 11 of KVKK you have the right to:
- learn whether your personal data is processed, and request information about it;
- learn the purpose of the processing and whether it is used for that purpose;
- know the third parties in Turkey or abroad to whom your data is transferred;
- ask for incomplete or incorrect data to be corrected;
- ask for your data to be deleted or destroyed under the conditions set out in the law;
- ask for the correction or deletion to be notified to the third parties who received the data;

Visitors in the United States
