The Fine Art Photography Awards are an international competition for fine art photography, now in their 13th edition. Amateur and professional photographers from any country compete in 20 categories, from Abstract and Conceptual to Landscape, Street and Wildlife. The professional grand prize winner receives $3,000 and the amateur winner $2,000. The final deadline is 14 February 2027.

The competition is judged by a panel of 14 photographers from around the world, and it has separate amateur and professional levels, so photographers who are not working professionally are not judged against full-time artists.

Single images and series can both be entered, and the same photographer can enter several categories.

Key Dates

11 October 2026 — Early deadline (lower fees)
14 February 2027 — Final deadline
11 April 2027 — Winners announced

Who Can Enter the Fine Art Photography Awards?

The competition is open to everyone, in two levels:

  • Professional: photographers who earn their income mainly from photography
  • Amateur: everyone else

It is particularly relevant to:

  • Fine art and conceptual photographers
  • Landscape and seascape photographers
  • Street and documentary photographers working in a fine art register
  • Photographers working with manipulation and experimental techniques

What Can You Enter?

There are 20 categories at each level: Abstract, Architecture, Conceptual, Experimental, Fashion, Fine Art, Landscape, Nature, Night Photography, Nudes, Open Theme, Panoramic, People, Photojournalism, Photomanipulation, Portrait, Seascape, Street Photography, Travel and Wildlife/Animals. Each entry is a single image or a series.

Entry Fees

Final period (until 14 February 2027):

  • Amateur: $24 single, $29 series
  • Professional: $29 single, $34 series
  • Each additional category: $10

What Do Selected Entrants Receive?

  • Amateur Fine Art Photographer of the Year: $2,000

  • Category winners and nominees: certificates and digital badges

Submission Requirements

Entries are uploaded on the official Fine Art Photography Awards website, where you choose your level, category and whether the entry is a single image or a series.

How Are Entries Judged?

Each entry is scored by the jury within its category and level. Category winners and nominees are chosen first, and the grand prize winners are selected from the strongest work across all categories.

Who Is on the Jury?

The 14 jurors include Jaco Marx, Michele Palazzo, Karolina Wojtasik, Tugo Cheng, Jan Møller Hansen, Simone Werr and Anna Tihanyi, among other photographers from Europe, Asia and Africa.

When Will Entrants Be Notified?

Winners are announced on 11 April 2027.

Amateur or Professional?

The split between levels is one of the most useful features of this competition. If photography is not your main source of income, you enter the amateur level, pay a lower fee and compete for a separate grand prize, so you are not judged against full-time photographers with studios and assistants. Professionals compete among themselves for the larger prize. Both levels use the same 20 categories, and category winners and nominees at both levels receive the same recognition in the Winners Gallery. If you are unsure which level fits, read the definitions on the official site before paying.

Things to Consider

  • Choose your level honestly. The amateur level is cheaper and has its own grand prize.
  • Pick the right category. Conceptual, Fine Art and Open Theme overlap; read the descriptions before you enter.
  • Series need coherence. A series should share a clear idea and visual language.
  • Weigh the fees. Several categories add up quickly; enter where your work is strongest.
  • Check the deadline. The site also mentions 15 February in one place; enter by 14 February to be safe.
