Closing soon9 days leftThe Art Explora × Cité internationale des arts Residency 2027 offers artists of any nationality 3 or 6 months in Paris with a studio flat, €1,000 a month and a €3,000 production grant. Deadline: 30 October 2026.

The Art Explora residency is a fully funded programme for artists at the Cité internationale des arts in Paris, run by the Art Explora foundation. Each year about twenty artists, collectives and researchers spend three or six months in a furnished studio flat at the Cité's Montmartre site, with a monthly allowance of €1,000, a €3,000 production grant and a return trip to Paris. Applications for 2027 close on 30 October 2026.
The residency is open to artists of any nationality and any age working in the visual arts, performing arts or digital arts. It looks for projects that connect art with science, or that respond to social, political and ecological questions, and that make sense in a French context.
There are two routes: a solo programme for individual artists, and a collective programme for groups of artists or for an artist working with a researcher or curator.

About the Cité internationale des arts
The Cité internationale des arts is one of the largest residency centres in the world, hosting hundreds of artists every year across two sites in Paris, in the Marais and in Montmartre. The Art Explora residency is based in Montmartre, with gardens and studios on the hill below the Sacré-Cœur. Residents live and work alongside artists from many countries and disciplines, which is part of the value of the stay.
Art Explora is a foundation that works to bring art to wider audiences, and the residency reflects that by supporting projects with a public or social dimension.
Things to Consider
- Explain why Paris. A project that needs French institutions, archives or partners is stronger than one that could happen anywhere.
- Choose the right programme. Collaborations with a researcher or curator belong in the collective route.
- Use the production grant in your plan. Show what €3,000 will make possible.
- Show your track record. Five years of practice and international exhibitions are required.
- Think about the open studios. Plan something you could share with visitors during the residency.
