Open for entriesThe BBA Artist Prize 2027 is an international art prize open to artists 18+ in any medium, with €2,500 in prizes, a solo show and a group exhibition at BBA Gallery, Berlin. Deadline: 7 December 2026.

The BBA Artist Prize 2027 is an international contemporary art prize run by BBA Gallery in Berlin. It is open to artists aged 18 and over working in any medium, with no requirements for education or experience. The winner receives €1,000 and a solo exhibition at BBA Gallery, and shortlisted artists are shown in a group exhibition in Berlin. The deadline is 7 December 2026.
The prize is designed to be accessible. Painters, sculptors, photographers, ceramicists, printmakers, textile artists, video and performance artists all compete in the same open call, and the jury is made up of curators, gallerists and artists from different countries. For artists who have not yet shown in Germany, a shortlist place is a practical way to exhibit in Berlin.
Each entry includes up to five artworks, a statement and a CV, and you can edit your submission until the deadline.

Who Can Enter the BBA Artist Prize 2027?
Anyone aged 18 or over can apply. There are no restrictions on experience, education or social background, and all mediums are welcome.
It is particularly relevant to:
- Painters and draughtspeople
- Sculptors and ceramicists
- Photographers
- Printmakers and textile artists
- Video and performance artists
What Can You Enter?
Each entry includes up to five artworks. All mediums are accepted, including painting, sculpture, photography, ceramics, printmaking, textiles, video and performance. Works must be available for sale during the prize and exhibition period and must not be exclusively consigned elsewhere during that time.
There is no theme, so the jury judges your practice as a whole. Five works from the same series, or five pieces that share a clear idea, give the jury a stronger picture than a selection of your most different works. For video and performance, a still image with a short description and a link usually works best within the five-image limit.
Entry Fees
The general entry fee is €49, covering up to five artworks. Additional images can be added for an extra fee after entry.

- Audience Award: €300, an Artsy profile and online promotion

Submission Requirements
Applications are made online on the BBA Prizes website.
- Up to five images, each up to 3 MB
- An artist statement of up to 300 words
- A CV and exhibition history
Important Rules
- Entrants must be 18 or over.
- Works must be available for sale and not exclusively consigned elsewhere during the prize.
- If a work sells before the shortlist is announced, you must inform the organisers.
- Shortlisted artists pay for transport of their works to and from Berlin; BBA gives logistics and customs advice for non-EU artists.
- The gallery insures works against damage or theft while they are on site.
- Sales during the shortlist exhibition are split 50/50 between the artist and the gallery.
- Full terms are in the Terms & Conditions and the Participation Agreement.
When Will Entrants Be Notified?
The jury is Elizabeth Kang, Christian Bracht, Caroline Sarah Henne, Andreas Hermann, Tanja Bergmann, Larissa Monteiro da Costa, Vishal Shah and Renata Kudlacek. Shortlisted artists are contacted after judging, with details of the Berlin exhibition.
Things to Consider
- Choose a coherent group. Five works that show one clear body of practice are easier to judge than five unrelated pieces.
- Write a focused statement. You have 300 words; use them to explain what you make and why.
- Plan the costs. Shipping to and from Berlin is paid by the artist, so check the size and weight of the works you enter.
- Price your work. Works must be for sale, and sales are split 50/50.
- Photograph sculpture and installation well. Clean backgrounds and a shot that shows scale help works that are hard to judge from one image.
- Keep your CV current. Recent exhibitions, residencies and publications give the jury useful context.
- Use the editing window. You can improve your entry until 7 December, so submit early and refine it.
