Adirondack Experience Artist-in-Residence 2027
Open for entriesThe Adirondack Experience Artist-in-Residence 2027 gives artists a month at a museum in New York's Adirondack Mountains, with free housing, a $5,000 stipend and $500 travel. Deadline: 11 December 2026.

The Adirondack Experience Artist-in-Residence is a one-month residency at the Adirondack Experience, the Museum on Blue Mountain Lake, in the Adirondack Mountains of upstate New York. Four artists are chosen for 2027, one each for June, July, August and September. Each receives free housing on site, a $5,000 stipend and a $500 travel allowance. The deadline is 11 December 2026 at 5 PM EST.
This is a public-facing residency. Artists work in the museum's public spaces and run activities in its Art Lab, so the programme suits artists who enjoy talking about their process with visitors. Applicants are welcome regardless of nationality, but international artists arrange and pay for their own visas.
The museum is rural and has no public transport; staff run a weekly shuttle to nearby shops.

About the Adirondack Experience
The Adirondack Experience is a museum about the people and landscapes of the Adirondack Mountains, the largest protected area in the contiguous United States. Its collections cover boats, logging, rustic furniture, crafts and everyday life in the region, and its campus looks over Blue Mountain Lake. For an artist, that means a setting full of forests, water and craft traditions to respond to, and a steady flow of visitors during the summer season.
The residency suits artists who want their work to grow from a specific place and who are comfortable working in public view.
Things to Consider
- Write a personal letter. The Adirondacks letter is your chance to show why this place matters to your work.
- Design a real Art Lab activity. A simple, hands-on idea works best for visitors.
- Check visa timing. Start early if you are travelling from abroad.
- Plan for a rural stay. There is no public transport, so think about supplies.
