TEFAF Maastricht 2027
UpcomingStarts 13 MarTEFAF Maastricht 2027, the world's leading fair for fine art, antiques and design, runs 13–18 March at MECC Maastricht: around 270 dealers covering 7,000 years of art history.

TEFAF Maastricht is widely considered the world's leading fair for fine art, antiques and design, and its 40th edition takes place at the MECC exhibition centre in Maastricht from 13 to 18 March 2027. Around 270 of the world's top dealers show everything from ancient sculpture and Old Master paintings to jewellery, works on paper, 20th-century design and contemporary art, often with works of museum quality.
The fair is famous for its vetting: every object is checked by committees of experts for authenticity, condition and attribution before the fair opens.
About the Fair
TEFAF, The European Fine Art Foundation, was founded in 1988, bringing together earlier fairs for paintings and antiques in Maastricht. The fair quickly became a meeting place for museum curators and collectors from around the world, many of whom make major acquisitions there. TEFAF now also runs a fair in New York, but Maastricht remains the flagship.
The 2026 edition presented 276 dealers and galleries from 24 countries on five continents, and the fair's displays, including its famous flower arrangements, make it as much a visual experience as a market.

Tips for Artists and Students
For artists, the fair is a rare chance to look closely at historical works that are usually behind glass or far away on a museum wall. Spend time in the Works on Paper section: drawings by old and modern masters show how artists planned their work, and dealers are often willing to talk about technique and provenance.
Craftspeople and designers will find the Antiques and Jewellery sections inspiring, with furniture, silver, ceramics and jewellery made with extraordinary skill. Notice details such as joinery, engraving and enamel, and how materials were used in different periods.
For students, the fair is also a lesson in how the art market values history, condition and authenticity. Some dealers present works that are later bought by major museums, so you may see a future museum piece before anyone else.
Planning Your Visit
The fair is arranged by section, but many dealers mix periods and media on their stands, so walk the aisles slowly and look closely. The catalogue and the online exhibitor list help you choose a route; mark the sections you care about most and visit them early, when the aisles are calmer. Dealers are used to students and specialists asking questions, so do not be shy: many are experts in their field. Leave time to see the city, whose old town, churches and museums make Maastricht an easy destination for a weekend.
Things to Know
- Getting there: MECC is in the south of Maastricht; Maastricht Randwyck station is a short walk away, with trains from Maastricht central station and the rest of the Netherlands.
- Dress: smart casual is the norm.
- Time: the fair is large; plan at least half a day.
- The city: Maastricht's old town is beautiful and walkable, with many restaurants.
- Hotels: the city is small and fills up during the fair, so book early or stay in Liège or Aachen.
