Stockholm Design Week 2027
UpcomingStarts 8 FebStockholm Design Week 2027 runs 8–14 February across the city, alongside the Stockholm Furniture Fair (9–12 February): showroom openings, exhibitions and talks on Scandinavian design, open to everyone.

Stockholm Design Week is the main annual meeting point for Scandinavian design, and in 2027 it runs from 8 to 14 February. For a week, showrooms, galleries, shops, museums and studios across the Swedish capital open exhibitions, product launches, talks and parties, while the Stockholm Furniture Fair brings brands and buyers together at Stockholmsmässan from 9 to 12 February.
The theme for 2027 is "Design in all forms, for everyone", and the week is open to both professionals and the public.
About Stockholm Design Week
The week grew up around the Stockholm Furniture Fair, formerly the Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair, which has been held at Stockholmsmässan in Älvsjö for decades and is one of the biggest furniture fairs in Scandinavia. The city programme is organised as a series of neighbourhood clusters: areas of the city where showrooms and exhibitions sit close together, so visitors can walk from one to the next.
The week is organised by Stockholmsmässan, with partners including Visit Stockholm, the Swedish Institute, Nobis Hospitality Group, Arlanda Express and Stockholm Fashion Week.
What to Expect
- Showroom openings: Swedish and Nordic furniture and lighting brands present new collections in their city spaces
- Exhibitions in galleries, museums and pop-up venues, from young designers to established studios
- Talks and panels on materials, sustainability, interiors and the design industry
- The Stockholm Furniture Fair at Stockholmsmässan, with furniture, lighting and interiors brands from across the Nordic countries and beyond
- Evening events: many openings run into the evening, with drinks and music
- City clusters that group venues by neighbourhood, from Södermalm to the city centre
2027 Programme
The city programme runs from Monday 8 to Sunday 14 February 2027. The Stockholm Furniture Fair runs from Tuesday 9 to Friday 12 February; it is open to trade visitors on all four days and to the public on Friday 12 February. Opening hours for the fair are published a few months before the event.
The full programme and map are published in the free official app and on the official website in the weeks before the event, with new venues added until the opening.
Who Is It For?
- Furniture, lighting and product designers
- Interior designers and architects looking for Nordic suppliers and materials
- Design students: the city events are free and give a good overview of Scandinavian design
- Buyers and retailers attending the fair
- Anyone in Stockholm curious about design, since most venues welcome the public
Tickets
Most events across the city are free to attend, though some talks and evening events need registration. Tickets for the Stockholm Furniture Fair are released closer to the event; trade visitors register online, and the public can visit on Friday 12 February. Subscribe to the fair's newsletter or check the official site for the release date.
Why Visit?
Scandinavian design is known for clean forms, natural materials and a focus on everyday use, and the week is the best moment to see it as a whole. Big Swedish and Nordic brands launch new collections in the city, while smaller studios and design schools show experimental work in galleries and pop-up spaces. Seeing both side by side shows how ideas move from prototypes to production.
For students and young designers, the free city programme is a chance to meet the industry without a trade badge. Showroom openings are informal, and designers are often present to talk about their work. Many visitors combine a day at the fair with two or three days walking the clusters.
The week is also a good introduction to Stockholm's design scene beyond furniture: lighting, textiles, ceramics and interior design are all part of the programme, and the Swedish Institute and city partners add talks and exhibitions about design and society.
Things to Know
- Getting to the fair: Stockholmsmässan is in Älvsjö, about 10 minutes from Stockholm Central by commuter train.
- From the airport: the Arlanda Express train reaches the city centre in about 20 minutes.
- Weather: February in Stockholm is cold and dark early; dress warmly for walking between venues.
- Use the app: it is the easiest way to plan routes through the clusters and see what is on each evening.
- Book early: hotels fill up during the week, especially around the fair days.
