LUSTR is an annual festival of illustration and comics in Prague, Czech Republic. Now in its thirteenth year, it brings together illustrators and comic artists from the Czech Republic and abroad through themed exhibitions, presentations, talks and workshops, with plenty of opportunities to meet the artists in person.

The main exhibition of the 2026 edition, Landscape 2.0, explores how illustration and comics picture the landscape today: shaped by the Anthropocene, mechanisation and post-industrial cities, and reimagined in speculative visions of the future.

LUSTR 2026 takes place 24–30 September 2026 in Prague.

About LUSTR 2026

LUSTR presents dozens of creators every year across several themed exhibitions, from established names in illustration and comics to artists at the very start of their careers. Beyond the exhibitions, it is a place to discover new books, exchange know-how in workshops and lectures, and meet the people behind the work.

The festival is held at Holešovická tržnice (Prague Market) in Prague 7, with the main exhibitions in Hall 17 and the accompanying programme in Hall 13. Some exhibitions continue at partner venues around the city after the festival week.

What to Expect

LUSTR 2026 combines exhibitions with a programme for both children and adults: presentations, talks and discussions with the artists, workshops, a children’s corner prepared with the Totemo building-set brand, and a festival shop curated by the Xao bookstore.

Talks and discussions are included in the festival ticket, while workshops are booked and paid for separately. The festival opens with an evening event on 24 September, followed by an afterparty at Hall 2 (Burza #4).

2026 Programme

The 2026 programme includes the following exhibitions:

  • Landscape 2.0 — the main exhibition on the contemporary landscape in illustration and comics
  • Showcase — illustration, comics and artist collectives from around the world
  • Portuguese Salon — a focus on artists from Portugal
  • Broumov Illustration Symposium 2026 — work created at the symposium in Broumov
  • Mamma mia? — female artists on women’s roles in 21st-century society, at The Chemistry Gallery (Hall 40), running until 8 November 2026
  • Never Again
  • Travel Diaries, Maps and Guidebooks — illustrators on the road from the Renaissance to the present day, at the Hvězda Summer Palace

The festival website lists different dates for the Travel Diaries exhibition on different pages, so check the official programme before planning a visit to it.

Who Is It For?

LUSTR is relevant to illustrators, comic artists, students, publishers and anyone who loves picture books, graphic novels and visual storytelling.

With a children’s corner, family-friendly workshops and free entry for children under 15, it also works well as a visit for families. For professionals, the talks and the chance to meet artists and publishers in person make it a useful meeting point for the Central European illustration scene.
