Dubai Design Week 2026
UpcomingStarts 3 NovDubai Design Week 2026 runs 3–8 November at Dubai Design District (d3): the Downtown Design fair, installations, the Abwab exhibition, talks and workshops. Most of the festival is free to visit.

Dubai Design Week is the largest creative festival in the Middle East, and its 12th edition takes place from 3 to 8 November 2026 at Dubai Design District (d3). For six days the district's streets, courtyards and buildings host installations, exhibitions, talks, workshops and the region's leading contemporary design fair, Downtown Design. Held under the patronage of Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the festival gives a broad view of design in the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia, alongside international studios.
Most of the programme is free to visit, which makes it one of the most accessible design events of the year for students and young designers.
About Dubai Design Week
The festival was founded in 2015 and is organised in partnership with Dubai Design District, the creative quarter built next to the Dubai Water Canal. Each year it brings together architecture, product, furniture, graphic and interior design, with a strong focus on work from the UAE and the wider region. Many of the exhibitions are commissioned for the week and shown nowhere else.
Its anchor is Downtown Design, a curated fair of contemporary furniture, lighting and objects. The 2025 edition gathered more than 330 brands from 35 countries; in 2026 it runs from 4 to 8 November.
What to Expect
- Abwab: a group exhibition commissioned each year from regional designers. The 2026 edition, In Other Words, looks at graphic design, typography, sound and publishing
- Urban Commissions: this year's theme is "Atmospheres", and the winning pavilion is Three Gardens and a Room by Nao Architects (Reem Nassour)
- Installations across d3, including Taqleem by Rasha Saffarini, Chatai 2.0 by Nikken Sekkei and Sobokuya, and Playing Field by Alter
- UAE Designer Exhibition: Inherited Futures, curated by AlZaina Lootah, showing work by Emirati designers
- Memphis Milano exhibition, a lounge by Yinka Ilori and a keynote by French interior designer Tristan Auer at the Dubai Design Week Forum
- L'École School of Jewelry Arts, supported by Van Cleef & Arpels, with talks and displays on jewellery craft
- Tanween and the Athath Fellowship, programmes that support emerging designers in the region
2026 Programme
The festival opens on Tuesday 3 November, and Downtown Design follows from Wednesday 4 to Sunday 8 November. The Forum runs talks and panels through the week, and the Maker Space hosts hands-on workshops with partners such as University of the Arts London and SAE. On the weekend of 7 and 8 November, the Marketplace brings independent makers and design shops together, a good moment to buy objects and prints.
Exhibitions and installations stay open across the six days, so the quieter weekdays are best for seeing them properly. Talks and workshops usually need a free booking through the official website.
Who Is It For?
- Product, furniture and interior designers looking at regional and international work
- Graphic designers and typographers, especially for the Abwab exhibition
- Architecture and design students: the talks, workshops and fellowships are aimed at early careers
- Buyers, specifiers and collectors visiting Downtown Design
- Anyone in Dubai curious about the region's creative scene
Tickets
Entry to the Dubai Design Week programme at d3, including exhibitions, installations and most talks, is free. Some workshops have limited places and need to be booked in advance. Downtown Design is ticketed separately; resale listings show prices from AED 80, and trade visitors can usually register. Check the official site for current prices and registration before you go.
Why Visit as a Designer?
For designers outside the region, the festival is one of the easiest ways to understand how design is developing in the Gulf, the Levant, North Africa and South Asia. The Abwab exhibition and the UAE Designer Exhibition are curated to show new voices, and many of the participants are young studios presenting their work for the first time. The 2026 Abwab theme makes it especially relevant for graphic designers, typographers and publishers, with Arabic type and visual language at its centre.
The week is also a good place to make contacts. Downtown Design brings buyers, hotel developers and interior firms looking for furniture and lighting, and the Forum's talks attract professionals from across the region. If you are thinking about working in the Middle East, an afternoon at the talks followed by an evening in the courtyards of d3 is often more useful than any number of emails.
For students, the Maker Space workshops are short, practical sessions run by universities and partners, and many are free with a booking. Arrive early: popular workshops fill up within days of the programme being published.
Things to Know
- Location: d3 is in Al Khail, next to the Dubai Water Canal, about 15 minutes by taxi from Downtown Dubai and the Burj Khalifa.
- Getting there: there is no metro station inside d3; taxis and ride-hailing are the easiest option, and parking is limited during the week.
- Weather: November evenings are pleasant, but days can still be warm; much of the programme is outdoors, so bring water and a hat.
- Timing: the opening days are busiest with press and professionals; the weekend draws families and the Marketplace.
- Plan ahead: the full map and daily schedule are published on the festival website shortly before the opening.
