Art Basel Miami Beach 2026
UpcomingStarts 4 DecArt Basel Miami Beach 2026 brings 272 galleries from more than 40 countries to the Miami Beach Convention Center, 4–6 December, with Nova, Positions, Survey, Kabinett and the new Zero 10 sector.

Art Basel Miami Beach is the leading art fair in the Americas, and its 2026 edition opens to the public at the Miami Beach Convention Center from 4 to 6 December. 272 galleries from more than 40 countries show modern and contemporary art, from painting and sculpture to photography, video and digital works. Invited guests attend the VIP days on 2 December, from 4pm, and 3 December.
The fair is the centre of Miami Art Week, when dozens of satellite fairs, museum openings and private collections fill the city.
About the Fair
Art Basel was founded in Basel, Switzerland, in 1970, and launched its Miami Beach edition in 2002. It now also runs fairs in Hong Kong, Paris and Qatar. UBS is the lead partner. For 2026, the Miami Beach floor has been reconfigured, and more than 30 galleries are taking part for the first time, so the fair feels noticeably different from previous years.
Galleries apply to take part and are selected by a committee of gallerists, which is why the fair is considered a benchmark of the international art market.
What to Expect
- Galleries: the main sector, with 204 leading international galleries showing modern and contemporary work
- Kabinett: 27 curated presentations within gallery booths, from thematic group shows to historical surveys
- Nova: 20 galleries presenting recent work by one to three artists
- Positions: 12 solo projects by emerging artists
- Survey: 16 presentations from 18 galleries focusing on art-historical projects
- Zero 10: a sector for digital art, with 19 projects including works by Jon Rafman, Refik Anadol and Sarah Meyohas
2026 Programme
Alongside the gallery stands, the fair runs talks and conversations with artists, curators and collectors, and public art across Miami Beach. Guided tours of the fair, run by ArtNexus, can be booked as a separate ticket. Group sizes are limited: up to 6 people on the VIP days and up to 12 on public days.
The week around Art Basel Miami Beach is packed: museums such as the Pérez Art Museum Miami, the Bass and the Institute of Contemporary Art host major openings, and fairs such as NADA and Untitled run at the same time.
Who Is It For?
- Artists and art students who want to see what galleries are showing and selling now
- Collectors at every level
- Curators, critics and art advisors
- Digital artists and creative technologists, especially for the Zero 10 sector
- Anyone visiting Miami during Art Week
Tickets
Tickets are sold only on the official Art Basel website; the Convention Center does not sell them at the door. Day tickets are listed at around $75–92 for 2026, with reduced tickets for students and seniors and free entry for children; multi-day and early-access options cost more. Prices change as the fair approaches, so check the official ticket page before buying.
Tips for Artists and Students
For artists, the fair is a crash course in the contemporary art market. Walking the Galleries sector shows which artists the leading galleries are supporting, how work is installed and lit, and what scale and media are selling. Positions and Nova are especially useful for younger artists, as they present recent work by emerging names, often in a single, focused booth.
Talk to gallery staff when they are not busy with collectors; asking about an artist's background or the materials of a work is welcome. Bring a notebook rather than a portfolio: galleries do not review work at the fair, and approaching them with images is rarely well received.
For students, the free and low-cost events around Miami Art Week are just as valuable. Museum openings, talks and public art projects across the city let you see a wide range of work in a few days. If you can only spend one day at the Convention Center, choose a Friday or Sunday, arrive at opening time, and plan your route by sector using the online floor plan.
Things to Know
- Location: the Miami Beach Convention Center is on Convention Center Drive, between Collins Avenue and the Miami Beach Botanical Garden.
- Traffic: Art Week traffic is heavy; use the free trolleys, bikes or ride-hailing, and allow extra time to cross the causeways.
- Groups: tours have size limits, so book early if you are visiting with a class.
- Pace yourself: the fair is big; pick sectors in advance, and plan breaks.
- Hotels: prices peak in the first week of December, so book well ahead or stay in Miami rather than on the beach.
