Habitat and Sustainability Poster Call 2027: "Just Transitions for a Resilient Habitat"
Open for entriesITESO university in Guadalajara, Mexico invites designers worldwide to create posters on "Just Transitions for a Resilient Habitat". Free; the best 50 are exhibited. Deadline: 20 January 2027.

The Habitat and Sustainability Poster Call is an open call for poster designers, organised by ITESO, the Jesuit University of Guadalajara in Mexico, for its 6th International Congress on Habitat and Sustainability. The theme is "Just Transitions for a Resilient Habitat", which asks what we must do today to create places that are liveable, sustainable and fair for all living beings. Entry is free and open to designers worldwide. Posters must be sent by 20 January 2027, and the 50 best are exhibited during the congress in April 2027.
Key Dates
20 January 2027 — Submission deadline
20 March 2027 — Selected posters announced
7–9 April 2027 — Exhibition at the Dr. Jorge Villalobos Padilla S.J. Library, ITESO
The Theme
The congress takes place against the climate crisis, biodiversity loss, pressure on water and growing social inequality. Posters can respond to one of three thematic areas:
- Habitable, just and resilient territories: climate adaptation, housing, public space, the right to the city and community participation
- Social innovation from the local level: local and circular economies, community strength, local knowledge and heritage, sustainable food systems and education
- Just sociotechnical transitions: decarbonisation and climate justice, technology for sustainability, sustainable building, and resilient infrastructure
Who Can Enter the Sustainability Poster Call?
Designers from any country; the call is open to everyone. It suits:
- Graphic designers and illustrators who work on social and environmental themes
- Design students looking for an exhibition credit
- Poster designers who enter international calls
Fees
Entry is free. Each designer may submit up to four posters.
Format
- Print file: 60 × 90 cm, 300 dpi, JPEG
- Social media file: 640 × 960 pixels
- File names: thematic area number, first name, last name and country, for example 1_Name_Surname_Country.jpg
Designs must be original, unpublished and entirely your own work. Posters that do not follow the guidelines, or arrive after the deadline, are not judged.
How to Enter
Email both files for each poster to the address given in the call, together with a signed rights assignment form, which you download from the link in the call document.
Selection and Rights
A jury selects the 50 best designs, which are exhibited at ITESO and shared on the university's social media. Selected designers receive a digital certificate. All submitted works join the graphic archive of ITESO's Department of Habitat and Sustainability and may be used in the catalogue and on social media, so read the rights assignment form before entering.
Tips for Entering
Choose one thematic area and one clear idea. A strong poster on a specific issue, such as water, housing or food, often works better than one trying to cover the whole theme.
Designing an Effective Poster
A strong poster communicates one idea quickly. Choose a single message from your thematic area, use a bold central image and keep text short and legible from a distance. Check that your design works both at 60 × 90 cm and at 640 × 960 pixels on a phone screen, as both versions are required. Use colour and typography with purpose, and avoid crowding the layout with logos or long explanations.
Before You Send
Name your files exactly as instructed, attach the signed rights assignment for each poster, and send everything well before 20 January 2027, as late entries are not judged.
Things to Consider
