Zona Maco is the largest contemporary art fair in Latin America, and its 23rd edition takes place at Centro Citibanamex in Mexico City from 3 to 7 February 2027. Galleries from Mexico, Latin America and the rest of the world present contemporary and modern art, collectible design and photography under one roof. The fair is the centrepiece of Mexico City Art Week, when museums, galleries and smaller fairs across the city open at the same time.

About Zona Maco

The fair was founded in 2002 by Zélika García and has grown into one of the most important art events in the Americas. Its success helped turn February into the busiest month of the year for art in Mexico City, attracting collectors, curators and artists from around the world.

The 2026 edition brought together 241 exhibitors across nine sections, from the main contemporary section to curated platforms for emerging galleries, modern art, design and photography. In 2026 it also introduced Forma, a section for collectible design with invited galleries.

What to Expect

  • Contemporary art: the main section, with leading galleries from Mexico and abroad
  • Emerging galleries: curated sections for young galleries and new artists
  • Modern art: 20th-century art, with a strong focus on Latin American modernism
  • Design: collectible furniture, lighting and objects by Mexican and international designers
  • Photography: galleries and projects devoted to the photographic image
  • Talks with artists, curators and collectors

2027 Programme

The fair runs from Wednesday 3 to Sunday 7 February 2027, with the first day usually reserved for previews. The final list of exhibitors and sections is announced on the official website before the fair. During the same week, other fairs and hundreds of exhibitions and openings fill the city, from established museums to artist-run spaces.

Who Is It For?

  • Artists and students who want to see the Latin American art scene in depth
  • Designers interested in Mexican craft and collectible design
  • Photographers and photography collectors
  • Curators and critics looking for artists from the region
  • Collectors and art lovers visiting Mexico City Art Week

Tickets

Tickets are sold on the official Zona Maco website and at the venue. Prices and ticket types for 2027, including day tickets and passes for the whole fair, are published closer to the date.

Tips for Artists and Designers

For artists, Zona Maco is the best single place to understand the art scene in Mexico and Latin America. Many of the region's most important galleries take part, and the emerging sections show the young artists they are betting on. Notice how often materials, craft traditions and political histories from the region appear in contemporary work.

For designers, the design galleries are a reason in themselves to visit. Mexico has a strong tradition of craft in wood, stone, clay and textiles, and many contemporary studios work closely with artisans. The collectible design shown at the fair is a good introduction to that scene, and to galleries that represent designers internationally.

Plan several days. The fair takes at least one long day, and Mexico City Art Week offers smaller fairs, gallery openings in neighbourhoods such as Roma, Condesa and San Miguel Chapultepec, and major museum shows. Many events are free.

Planning Your Visit

The fair fills several halls of the Centro Citibanamex, so allow a full day and start with the sections you care about most. Download the map from the official website, and plan breaks: the venue is large and the days are long. Mornings are generally calmer than afternoons. Outside the fair, Mexico City Art Week has its own rhythm: openings in the evenings, smaller fairs during the day and museum shows that stay on after the week ends. Choose a few neighbourhoods and explore them on foot.

Things to Know

  • Getting there: Centro Citibanamex is in the Lomas de Sotelo area, next to the Hipódromo de las Américas; taxis and ride-hailing are the easiest option.
  • Traffic: Mexico City traffic can be slow; allow plenty of time between the fair and the city centre.
  • Altitude: the city is at about 2,240 metres, so drink water and pace yourself on the first day.
  • Weather: February is dry and mild during the day, but evenings are cool.
  • Hotels: book early, as Art Week fills the city.
